GRANULATED SUGAR: A PERFECT BRAND FOR BAKING

Granulated sugar. When we hear the name of this sugar it sounds very unfamiliar to us. But don't be surprised, this actually is the common white table sugar that we always use for baking and other things. Now the question strikes to our minds is that what actually is granulated sugar? And why can’t we just simply call it sugar?

Well, I would like to tell you that there are several types of sugars namely brown sugar, powdered sugar, decorating sugar, sanding sugar, and of course, granulated sugar. Since I have already explained about the brown and white sugars in my previous article, here I will give detailed information about granulated sugar.

First of all, one must understand what does granulated means. Something that is granulated is made up of many tiny pieces. Granulated sugar is a highly refined, multi-purpose sugar. It’s also sometimes called refined, table, or white sugar. When people talk about “sugar,” this is usually what they’re talking about. Granulated sugar is made from sugarcane and sugar beets. It’s also the most common type of sugar used in baking and cooking. The fine crystals in granulated sugar don’t stick with the cake together, which makes it perfect for measuring, sprinkling onto food and dissolving into drinks. That is why granulated sugar is used more than other sugars in baking.

Now the thing that pops up in our minds is that where actually is Granulated sugar used the most. The great use of granulated sugar would be in the cakes, muffins, dessert, cookies, cupcakes and toffees as it can easily dissolve with the main stuff and gives smoothness to the dish along with some additional advantages like sweetness, and good texture.

Well, of course, granulated sugar always makes things much sweeter and tastier. But one must not forget that too much sugar may affect the health adversely. Sugar has been linked to the increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, acne, and other physical problems. Also, it could accelerate your skin aging process as well as lead to fatty liver. So while enjoying these treats, be careful to avoid a sugar rush!
